About Diego Santiviago

I write about AWS serverless systems, Lambda durable functions, durable execution, and workflow design.

I am a Principal Engineer at AWS in the Serverless organization.

I care most about tradeoffs. I like designs that are simple to operate, clear to debug, and cheap to run. The topics that interest me most are the ones that look easy at first and then become more interesting in production.

I usually write when I find a design decision worth explaining to another engineer. That can be a CloudFormation edge case, a long-running workflow, a serverless tradeoff, or a pattern that becomes much easier to understand once it is operating for real.

This site is where I keep those notes. I want the writing to be practical, direct, and useful for people who care about how the system really behaves.
